The St Andrew's Day Celebrations will take place in over one incredible weekend, all commemorating the origins of our shared history. Town and gown will come together in one display of celebration, bringing music, dance, books, food and drink, history, golf and much more to the centre of St Andrews.
EVENTS OF THE ST ANDREW'S DAY CELEBRATIONS
BEATING THE RETREAT
27 November, 6:30 PM
For many years, the Royal Burgh of St Andrews Community Council has marked St Andrew's Day by staging a 'Beating the Retreat' ceremony. This year will be no different! At 6.30pm, in the shadow of the historic Holy Trinity Church in the town centre, a pipe band will parade on the street for around 15 minutes, marking the official start of the 2014 St Andrew's Day Celebrations. Come along to this free event and enjoy a little piece of St Andrews tradition!
Afterwards, the Community Council will be hosting a reception (invitation only) within Holy Trinity Church.
JACK AND THE BEANSTALK
27 November onwards, 7:00 PM
The famous Byre Theatre celebrates its re-opening with its ever-popular annual pantomime! This year's production is 'Jack and the Beanstalk'. Opening night is Thursday 27th November, 7.00pm, and the show runs until Saturday 3rd January.
